Developing of painting – Cathedral of Poitiers

Le Projet

900m² of mural painted from the 13th-Century with an exceptional quality were discovered in the Cathedral of Poitiers. The paintings were hidden under a big coat since the 18th Century and were revealed after conservation works of the building.

Before their restoration, the DRAC Poitou-Charentes asked Art Graphique & Patrimoine to realize developing of these paintings.

Made from laser scanning and photogrammetry, the developing painting allows to obtain a metric document which is not reliant with perspective. The accuracy is also protected whatever the morphology of the studied zone. These documents are a precious and essential tool for art restorers.
